Every cleaning company says “safe for kids and pets” on their website. What that means in practice varies a lot, so here is a plain explanation of what we actually do, rather than a marketing phrase left undefined.
What we use by default
Our standard product line is chosen for low toxicity and low fume — nothing that requires you to leave the house or air it out for hours afterward. It is genuinely safe to be in the house shortly after a visit, which matters more than it sounds for households with small children, pets, or anyone sensitive to strong chemical smells.
Where standard products still make sense
A handful of jobs — heavy mildew, serious hard water buildup, certain move-out situations — genuinely clean better with a stronger product. We will tell you honestly when that’s the case rather than pretending a gentler product works equally well everywhere. Being upfront about that tradeoff matters more to us than an unqualified “always green” claim.
Using your own products
If you have specific products you prefer — a particular brand, something recommended for an allergy, or simply what you already have under the sink — leave them out and tell us. We are glad to use what you provide instead of our own.
Indoor air quality
This matters most in homes near the water, where humidity and salt air already put pressure on indoor air quality — see the EPA’s guidance on indoor air quality for more on why product choice inside a home matters beyond just the smell. Low-fume products are one small piece of managing that.
How this affects pricing
No extra charge for our standard low-toxicity product line — it is simply what we use. Get a quote the same way as any service, through the estimator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your standard cleaning products genuinely safe for pets and kids?
Our default product line is chosen specifically for low toxicity and low fume, and is safe to be around shortly after a visit. If a specific job needs a stronger product, we’ll tell you before using it rather than assuming it’s fine.
Can I request 100% green products with no exceptions?
Yes — tell us in advance and we will work within that, using your own supplies where our product line has to make an exception for a tough job like heavy mildew.
Does eco-friendly cleaning cost more?
No. Our standard product line is already low-toxicity by default, at no added cost — it’s simply what we use unless a specific situation calls for something stronger.
Do eco-friendly products actually work as well?
For the large majority of regular cleaning, yes. A small number of tougher jobs — heavy hard water, serious mildew — genuinely benefit from a stronger product, and we’re upfront when that’s the case rather than compromising the result to stay green.
